Falls from chairs, recliners, and wheelchairs are among the most common and preventable accidents in home care and assisted living environments — and they most often happen when the caregiver is in another room or occupied with another task. The Smart Caregiver Wireless Chair Exit Monitoring System pairs the 433-EC Economy CordLess Monitor with a 10"x15" CordLess chair sensor pad, giving caregivers an immediate wireless alert the moment the at-risk person removes their weight from the chair and begins to rise — before they are fully upright and at fall risk. No cords between the pad and the monitor means no tripping hazards for the patient, and the monitor can be placed up to 300 feet away — in a kitchen, another room, or a caregiver's workspace — so the alert reaches you wherever you are without requiring a loud alarm in the patient's room.

Who This Is For

  • Family caregivers managing a loved one with dementia, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, stroke, or balance impairment who needs assistance to stand safely from a chair or recliner
  • Home health aides who need to complete tasks in other areas of the home while remaining responsive to chair exit attempts by a patient in a living room, bedroom, or dining area
  • Caregivers managing a post-surgical patient who has been instructed not to stand unassisted during recovery from hip, knee, or back surgery
  • Anyone who has experienced or is concerned about a loved one falling when attempting to rise from a chair, recliner, or wheelchair unassisted — particularly active seniors who get up frequently throughout the day
  • Small care facilities, group homes, and adult day programs needing a simple, affordable wireless chair monitoring solution without complex installation

Key Features

  • Wireless Alert — Monitor Up to 300 Feet Away: The 10"x15" chair sensor pad communicates wirelessly with the 433-EC monitor using a pre-programmed 433 MHz signal that requires no pairing or setup. The caregiver monitor can be carried or placed anywhere within 300 feet of the pad — through walls and floors — making it practical for monitoring from a kitchen, bedroom, or any location in a typical home or small facility. No cord runs between the pad and the monitor, eliminating the trip hazard that corded chair pad systems create at floor level.
  • 10"x15" CordLess Chair Sensor Pad — Sized for Chair Seats: The chair pad is proportioned specifically for chair and recliner seat surfaces — unlike bed pads that are too large and bunch under chair cushions. At 10"x15", the pad fits flat on the seat surface beneath the user without pinching or folding, which is critical for reliable pressure sensing. The pad is placed on a flat surface under or on top of the chair seat — if placing under a cushion, ensure the cushion does not compress the pad to the point of triggering a false signal. The pad is made from comfortable nylon material that is easy to wipe clean.
  • Audible Chime and Bright Blinking Red Light: When pressure is removed from the pad, the monitor sounds a repeated gentle chime tone at 70–80 decibels and activates a bright blinking red light simultaneously. The gentle chime — rather than a loud alarm buzzer — reduces the risk of startling or agitating dementia patients who may become distressed by sudden loud sounds, while still providing a clear, attention-getting alert to the caregiver. The blinking light is visible from across a room and down hallways.
  • Adjustable Volume — Low, Medium, High: Three volume settings allow the alert level to be calibrated to the care environment. Higher settings carry the alert clearly to distant rooms or noisy environments. Lower settings reduce the alarm intensity for use in the same room as the patient when the caregiver is nearby and does not need maximum volume to respond promptly.
  • Expandable — Up to 6 Wireless Components on One Monitor: The 433-EC monitor is the hub of the Smart Caregiver wireless ecosystem. In addition to the included chair pad, the same monitor can receive signals from up to five additional Smart Caregiver wireless components simultaneously: additional bed or chair sensor pads, floor mats, door/window exit sensors (433-EXT), nurse call buttons (433-NC), and motion sensors. A caregiver managing monitoring needs in multiple rooms does not need multiple monitors — one 433-EC covers the full home.
  • Pre-Programmed — Ready to Use Out of the Box: The system arrives pre-programmed with the monitor and pad already paired. Insert the batteries, place the pad on the chair seat, position the monitor where it can be heard from your working location, and the system is immediately active — no pairing procedure, no setup menus, no technical configuration required.
  • Nurse-Call Port — Facility Integration: A 1/4" nurse-call port on the monitor allows integration with existing nurse-call systems in facility settings, enabling the chair alarm to trigger the facility's central alert infrastructure rather than or in addition to the portable monitor's own alarm.
  • Battery Operated — Flexible Placement: The monitor operates on 3 C batteries (not included) for portable use anywhere in the home without outlet proximity. An optional AC-04EC power adapter (sold separately) allows stationary outlet-powered operation for fixed placement at a caregiver's workstation or nurse's desk.

Chair Pad Placement for Best Results

  • On top of the seat surface: Place the pad directly on the chair seat with the user sitting on top of it — the most reliable placement for consistent pressure sensing. This works for firm chairs, dining chairs, and wheelchairs where the seat surface is accessible.
  • Under a thin seat cushion: If the chair has a removable cushion, place the pad between the seat and the cushion. Ensure the cushion does not compress the pad completely — a pinched pad may either fail to sense correctly or trigger false alarms. Avoid this placement with thick, heavy cushions.
  • Monitor placement: Position the monitor where the chime can be clearly heard from your typical working location. For nighttime chair monitoring, a bedroom or hallway location is common. The monitor can be carried on a belt clip or in a pocket for mobile caregiving throughout the day.

How This Differs from the EC1-SYS Corded Chair Alarm

EnhDme also carries the Smart Caregiver EC1-SYS, a corded chair alarm system where the sensor pad connects directly to the monitor with a physical cable. The key differences:

  • This wireless system: Monitor can be placed up to 300 feet away — alert goes to another room. No cord between pad and monitor. Expandable to 6 components. Best for caregivers who are frequently in different rooms or need multi-area monitoring coverage.
  • EC1-SYS corded system: Monitor sits beside the chair and sounds in the room. Simpler setup. Lower cost. Best for caregivers who are typically in the same room or immediately adjacent and just need an in-room alert when the person attempts to stand.
