The Drive Medical Wheeled Steel Drop-Arm Commode is a premium, versatile 3-in-1 mobility solution engineered for individuals with severe mobility impairments, balance deficits, or those recovering from major orthopedic surgery.Combining the structural support of a medical bedside commode with the effortless mobility of a rolling transfer chair, this unit can be situated directly next to a bed or rolled smoothly over low-pile carpets and hard residential flooring.

What sets this deluxe model apart is its easy-to-release, lever-activated drop-arm mechanism. With a simple pull of the release lever, the heavy-duty padded armrests drop completely below the seating surface. This eliminates physical side barriers, allowing caregivers to execute safe, effortless lateral patient transfers from a bed, wheelchair, or car seat without forcing the user to stand. Built from robust 1-inch powder-coated steel, the frame features four rust-resistant swivel casters (two equipped with rear-locking safety brakes) to ensure absolute stability when stationary.

Available Configurations:

  • Single Chair (1-Pack): Ideal for home use, independent caregivers, and standard residential bedside or bathroom setups. Includes 1 complete rolling drop-arm commode with all default cleaning accessories.

  • Dual Chair Bundle (2-Pack Case): Optimized for multi-room care facilities, dual-story residences, or professional clinics looking to capitalize on automated factory-direct shipping discounts. Ships as a complete factory-sealed twin carton.

Key Product Features

  • Lever-Activated Drop-Arms: Side armrests lower completely out of the way for smooth, zero-barrier lateral transfers from beds or wheelchairs.

  • Four Smooth-Rolling Swivel Casters: Rust-resistant wheels allow the commode to navigate tight residential hallways and adjust positioning with ease.

  • Dual Rear Wheel Safety Locks: Foot-activated directional brakes instantly anchor the chair to prevent shifting during patient transfers.

  • Thick, Full-Length Padded Armrests: High-density foam wraps provide an exceptionally comfortable grip and robust leverage points when lowering or standing.

  • Complete Accessories Included: Comes out of the box with a generous 7.5-quart commode bucket, an integrated carry handle, a lid, and an anti-splash shield.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can this rolling commode be used directly over a standard residential toilet?

Yes. Thanks to its open rear-frame design, adjustable legs, and removable back bar, you can slide this unit directly over most standard residential toilet bowls. This turns it into an elevated toilet seat with safety arms and wheels, eliminating the need to empty a manual bucket after every use.

Can this unit be pushed into the shower to use as a shower chair?

While the frame features a protective powder-coated finish and the casters are rust-resistant, it is made of solid steel and utilizes padded foam arm cushions. Frequent or direct immersion in a running shower can eventually trap moisture under the vinyl arm wraps and inside the steel tubes, leading to corrosion. For direct shower stall use, an aluminum or heavy-duty plastic shower chair is highly recommended.

How do you operate the arms safely during a patient transfer?

The drop-arm mechanism uses a secure release lever located right near the front post of the seat. To lower the arm, the caregiver simply pulls the lock pin out, allowing the arm to swing down smoothly out of the way. When the transfer is complete, pull the arm back up into the vertical position; it will automatically "click" and lock rigidly back into place to provide standing leverage.
