Overview

McKesson Skin Barrier Paste caulks and fills the creases, folds, and uneven contours around the stoma, creating a flatter surface so your skin barrier sits flush and seals better. The pectin-based hydrocolloid formula forms an absorbent, protective layer and helps keep output from getting under the barrier — which can improve the fit and support longer wear.

The low-alcohol paste hardens as it sets for a dependable hold, and the easy-to-squeeze tube has a screw-top lid so it won’t dry out between uses. It’s a filler and caulk — not an adhesive.

Equipment Specialist Insight: Like all barrier pastes, this is caulk, not glue — it fills the dips, scars, and creases around the stoma so the barrier rests on a flat surface instead of bridging a gap where output could sneak under. A thin bead at the inner edge of the barrier opening does the job; smooth it with a wet finger or let it tack up first. It’s pectin-based and hardens as it sets. There’s a little alcohol in it, so it can sting on broken skin — if that’s a problem, a barrier ring is the alcohol-free way to get the same flat, gap-free seal. The screw-top cap keeps it from drying out between uses.

Is the paste a glue?

No — it’s a filler/caulk. It fills creases and uneven areas around the stoma so the barrier sits flat; it doesn’t adhere the barrier on its own.

Will it sting?

It has a low alcohol content, so it can sting on broken or irritated skin. For sensitive skin, an alcohol-free barrier ring is a gentler alternative.

How do I use it?

After cleaning and drying, apply a small bead at the inner edge of the barrier opening, fill any uneven spots, then apply the barrier.
