Nidek Nuvo Nano Portable Oxygen Concentrator
Nidek Nuvo Nano Portable Oxygen Concentrator (Model 855)
Overview
The Nidek Nuvo Nano (Model 855) is an ultra-lightweight portable oxygen concentrator — just 4.7 pounds — built for people who want supplemental oxygen without the bulk of home machinery or heavy tanks. It delivers pulse-dose oxygen across five settings, from 210 up to 1,000 mL per minute at up to 96% concentration, using breath-detection that reads your inhalation and delivers a synchronized dose at the exact start of each breath (working across breathing rates of 10 to 40 per minute). A backlit 2.8" color LCD shows your setting, battery, and status at a glance.
Made in the USA by Nidek, the Nano is FAA-approved for commercial air travel and runs on AC or DC (car) power, recharging while in use. A quick-swap lithium-ion battery gives up to about 3.5 hours on setting 1, and an auto-pulse backup feature keeps oxygen flowing if it briefly detects no breath. It ships with a protective carrying case and an adjustable shoulder strap, so it's ready to travel out of the box. Note that it's a pulse-dose device, so it isn't intended for continuous-flow needs or for nighttime use if you breathe primarily through your mouth.
Key Features
- Ultra-lightweight at just 4.7 lbs (2.1 kg) with the battery installed.
- Pulse-dose across five settings — 210 to 1,000 mL/min — at up to 96% oxygen.
- Breath-detection delivers a synchronized dose at the start of each inhalation (10–40 breaths/min).
- Auto-pulse backup delivers a steady pulse pattern if no breath is detected.
- FAA-approved for commercial air travel.
- Runs on AC or DC (car) power and recharges while in use.
- Quick-swap lithium-ion battery — up to about 3.5 hours on setting 1.
- Backlit 2.8" color LCD showing setting, battery runtime, and status.
- Smart audible and visual alarms for low battery, high temperature, breath-detection drops, and component errors.
- Easy sponge intake filter that pops out for a weekly rinse.
- Includes a carrying case with adjustable shoulder strap; made in the USA.
The Nano's calling card is weight and simplicity — 4.7 pounds and pulse-dose only, which is exactly what keeps it so light and travel-friendly. Its five settings step output evenly from 210 up to 1,000 mL/min, so each level is a clear increment. Because it delivers a bolus on each detected breath, it isn't suited to continuous-flow needs, and it isn't intended for nighttime use by mouth-breathers since it relies on nasal inhalation to trigger. The battery runs about 3.5 hours on setting 1 (less at higher settings), and it charges in the car while running — a spare battery is worth adding for longer days. FAA-ready, it's a strong pick when maximum portability is the priority.

Battery runtime varies with your setting, breathing rate, environment, and battery condition. For longer days, many users add a spare battery module.
Does it have a continuous flow setting?
No — the Nuvo Nano is pulse-dose only, delivering a measured dose of oxygen on each detected breath. That's what keeps it so light. It's also not intended for nighttime use if you breathe mainly through your mouth, since it relies on nasal inhalation to trigger; for continuous flow, choose a continuous-capable unit.
Can I run it in the car?
Yes. It includes a DC power cord, so plugged into a standard 12V vehicle outlet it runs on all settings while recharging the battery at the same time — handy for road trips and errands.
Can I attach a humidifier bottle?
No — humidifier bottles are for stationary, continuous-flow concentrators. A pulse-dose unit only outputs a brief dose when you inhale, so it can't build the line pressure needed to push air through water, and doing so would trigger a "no flow" error.
