A Hanging Lift Scale That Weighs the User During a Routine Lift
The Charder MHS 2500 is a digital hanging scale that fits between the lift arm and the sling bar of a patient lift. Once fitted, the user can be weighed while in the sling during a normal transfer, with no separate scale and no need to stand. It weighs up to 660 lbs (300 kg) in 0.1 kg steps, with a minimum load of 2 kg, and shows the result on a 1-inch, 5½-digit display.
Three functions cover everyday weighing. Zero resets the reading, Tare subtracts a known load such as the sling or clothing to give the net weight, and Hold takes several readings, checks that they agree and locks the result on the display, so the caregiver can read it after the user settles. The scale runs on six AAA batteries with a low-battery warning and a settable auto-off, and it is compact at 4.7 × 2.0 × 6.3 inches. It fits a range of Handicare mobile and ceiling lifts, listed below.

Equipment Specialist Insight: Fit the scale between the lift arm and the sling bar, and check that the lift’s hanger bar can swivel a full 360°; the scale is not recommended for lifts where it cannot. For an accurate reading, weigh on a flat, hard floor rather than carpet, keep the lift still, and make sure the user is hanging freely and not leaning on anything, since a tilt of more than 3° gives a false reading. Use Tare with the empty sling attached to weigh the user alone. The display reads in kilograms only. Check its accuracy at regular intervals, and contact us if readings seem off.
