Coloplast Brava Elastic Barrier Strips, Curved
Coloplast Brava Elastic Barrier Strips — Curved, 5-1/2 Inch
Overview
Coloplast Brava Elastic Barrier Strips frame the edge of your ostomy barrier to keep it from lifting or rolling. You apply them around the outside edge — half on the barrier, half on your skin, like a picture frame — for extra security and longer wear time.
The curved shape follows a round or oval barrier, and the elastic backing stretches with your body as you bend, sit, or move, so the edges stay put where ordinary tape would pop loose. A hydrocolloid layer absorbs a little moisture to help the strips hold, and the beveled thin edge lies flat and smooth under clothing. They’re a skin-friendly alternative to standard tape.

Equipment Specialist Insight: These are “picture-frame” strips — you stick them around the outside edge of your barrier, half on the wafer and half on your skin, so the edge can’t peel up. The curved shape is made to follow a round or oval barrier; reach for the Y-shape if you’re framing around a hernia or an uneven bulge, or the straight strip for one flat side. The elastic is the whole point: ordinary tape pops loose when you bend, but these stretch with you. The hydrocolloid backing also soaks up a little moisture, so they keep holding when skin gets damp. One or two strips is usually plenty.

How do I use them?
Stick them around the outside edge of your barrier, overlapping onto your skin like a picture frame, to keep the edges from lifting. One or two per barrier.
How is curved different from straight or Y-shape?
Curved follows a round or oval barrier edge; straight reinforces one flat side; Y-shape gives wider coverage over uneven areas like a hernia.
Are they gentle on skin?
Yes — they use a skin-friendly adhesive as an alternative to standard tape, and they’re latex-free.
