Freedom Flex Tilt-in-Space Chair, V-Back
Freedom Flex Tilt-in-Space Chair — V-Back Design, Pivoting Arms, Steering Casters
Overview
The Freedom Flex is a tilt-in-space chair designed for comfortable, well-supported seating throughout the day — and for making repositioning and everyday moving around easier on whoever is helping. Tilt of up to 18 degrees shifts weight and changes the load without asking the person to move or altering their seated posture, so a position can be adjusted as often as comfort calls for it.
A V-back design cradles and centers the user for comfort and support without bulky add-on pads, while pivoting arms swing clear so transfers from either side are simpler. Steering casters let a caregiver push the chair in a straight line with far less strain, and seat depth adjusts between 16.5 and 18 inches to fine-tune the fit. A low seat height of 12.5 to 17.5 inches makes getting in and out easier, and the sturdy 11-to-16-gauge steel frame supports up to 350 lbs. Backed by a 3-year mechanical frame and 1-year component warranty. Choose your seat width below.

Equipment Specialist Insight: Tilt-in-space does something a plain recliner can't — it tilts the whole seat as a unit, so hip and knee angles stay put while the weight shifts off the seat and back. That's what makes it a good fit for comfortable, longer sitting and for easy position changes without repositioning the person. Two things set the Freedom Flex apart from the step-up FlexTilt: the tilt is 18 degrees rather than 25, and the seat sits noticeably lower (12.5 to 17.5 inches versus roughly 19.5 to 21.5), which makes getting in and out easier and suits shorter users or anyone who wants their feet flat on the floor. If you want more tilt range or a taller seat, look at the FlexTilt instead. Match the seat width to the person, then fine-tune with the adjustable depth. The steering casters are a real back-saver for whoever is pushing, and the foot rest bracket is worth adding if leg support matters.

What does tilt-in-space actually do?
It tilts the entire seat as one unit, keeping hip and knee angles fixed while shifting weight off the seat and back — so you can change the load without changing the person's posture or repositioning them.
How is this different from the FlexTilt?
The Freedom Flex tilts to 18° and has a lower seat height (12.5″–17.5″). The FlexTilt offers more tilt range (25°), adds recline, and sits higher. Choose the Freedom Flex for a lower seat and a more economical option.
How do I choose the seat width?
Match it to the person — 16″, 20″, or 24″. Seat depth is also adjustable (16.5″ or 18″) so you can fine-tune the fit after choosing the width.
