Gentell Pak-Its Plain Packing Strip 1/2 in x 5 yd
Sterile Plain Gauze Packing Strip in a Tangle-Free Bottle
Packing a wound means pulling a clean length of strip each time without the rest of the roll tangling or getting handled. Gentell Pak-Its® Plain Packing Strip is a 1/2" x 5 yard sterile gauze strip stored in a bottle with a strip delivery system. The end of the strip stays at the top of the bottle, so it’s easy to find, and the rest stays clean and untangled inside.
This is a plain, non-impregnated strip, with nothing added to the gauze. It’s used to fill or pack wound space, either dry to absorb drainage or moistened as directed by the treating clinician. The 1/2" width suits medium-sized openings. It’s latex-free and is used with a secondary dressing over the top.
Key Features
- Plain gauze: non-impregnated, with nothing added to the strip.
- 1/2" x 5 yards: a medium-width strip with plenty of length per bottle.
- Strip delivery bottle: keeps the strip clean and tangle-free, with the end always at the top.
- Use dry or moistened: absorbs drainage when used dry, or can be moistened as directed.
- Sterile: ready for use.
- Latex-free: not made with natural rubber latex.
Keep the cap closed between uses and use clean technique each time you pull and cut a length. Don’t push unused strip back into the bottle. If the clinician has asked for an iodoform strip instead of plain, that’s a different product — plain strips have nothing added to the gauze. Plan on a secondary dressing to cover the packed wound.

How is a packing strip used?
The strip is placed into the wound opening to fill the space, then covered with a secondary dressing. It can be used dry to absorb drainage or moistened with a solution. Follow the treating clinician’s directions for how much to use and how often to change it.
What’s the difference between plain and iodoform strips?
Plain strips are gauze only, with nothing added. Iodoform strips are impregnated with iodoform, which contains iodine. Use the type the clinician has specified.
Is 1/2" the right width?
The 1/2" width is for medium-sized openings. Narrower and wider strips are made for smaller or larger wounds, so match the width to what the clinician has specified.
