A 1,000 lb Ceiling Lift Motor for Bariatric Transfers, With Manual or Powered Travel
The Handicare C-1000 is a ceiling-mounted lift motor rated for 1,000 lbs (454 kg), built for bariatric transfers in homes and care settings. It runs along an overhead track rated for at least 1,000 lbs and raises and lowers the user in a sling using a pneumatic hand control, with soft start and stop for smooth motion. It comes in Manual Traverse versions, which the caregiver moves along the track by hand, and Power Traverse versions, which have a travel motor that drives the lift along the track from the hand control.
Power comes from a 24V battery pack of two 12V sealed lead-acid cells, rated for 17 to 20 lifts of 24 inches at the full 1,000 lb load per charge. Three charging styles are offered: a docking station at the end of the track, OMNI constant-charge rail that keeps the motor charging anywhere along the track, and return-to-charge, which sends the motor back to the charger after a transfer. A digital display with built-in diagnostics and a lift counter supports maintenance tracking. An emergency stop, emergency lowering and emergency manual raising or lowering are built in. The motor weighs about 24.5 lbs and measures 13.1 by 10.2 by 7.5 inches in a flame-retardant ABS case.

Equipment Specialist Insight: The C-1000 is the lift motor only. A complete system also needs ceiling track rated for at least 1,000 lbs, a carry (hanger) bar and a sling sized for the user, all sold separately, and the installed system is only rated as high as its lowest-rated component. Choose Power Traverse when the caregiver would otherwise have to push a heavy user along the track by hand, or when the track run is long. OMNI charging suits rooms where the lift is used often, since it charges wherever it is parked on the rail. Have the track installed by a qualified installer, charge the battery fully before first use, and have a physical or occupational therapist show caregivers how to choose and position the sling.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between Manual and Power Traverse?
With Manual Traverse, the caregiver moves the lift along the track by hand. Power Traverse adds a travel motor so the lift drives along the track from the hand control.
What else is needed to install it?
Ceiling track rated for at least 1,000 lbs, a carry (hanger) bar and a sling sized for the user, sold separately. The installed system is rated only as high as its lowest-rated component.
How many lifts does a charge give?
17 to 20 lifts of 24 inches at the full 1,000 lb load, after the battery is broken in.
What do the charging options mean?
Docking station versions charge at a fixed point at the end of the track. OMNI versions charge anywhere along a constant-charge rail. Return-to-charge versions send the motor back to the charger after each transfer.
