A Manual Stand-and-Turn Transfer Platform You Can Also Use in the Shower
The Handicare Mover Aqua is a manual, non-powered transfer platform for short moves between a bed, chair, wheelchair, toilet or shower. It is for users who can stand on their own or with a little help. The user steps onto the low, non-slip platform, rests their shins against the large padded shin support and pulls up to standing by holding one of the three crossbars set at different heights. Once they are standing, two hinged half-seats fold down behind them so they can sit while the caregiver wheels the Mover Aqua to the new spot, then the seats fold back up so the user can stand and sit down again.
The Mover Aqua is built to be used in the shower, sitting or standing, with polyurethane cushions and stainless fittings, so it can serve as a transfer aid and a shower aid in one. A narrow base frame helps it move through bathrooms and doorways, and four casters carry it: 75 mm front casters and 100 mm rear casters with full brakes that hold it still while the user stands and sits. It is rated to 330 lbs (150 kg), weighs 62 lbs, and has no battery or motor.

Equipment Specialist Insight: The Mover Aqua relies on the user doing the standing: they need to stand unaided or with minimal help and bear their own weight. If they cannot, a powered sit-to-stand or full-body lift is the right tool. Lock the rear brakes before the user stands or sits, keep the user centered over the base throughout the transfer, and use the handlebars, not the legs, to steer. In the shower it can be rinsed and wiped down, but never lower it into water or clean it with steam. It is meant for short transfers, not long trips. A therapist should assess the user and confirm whether one or two caregivers are needed.
