A Battery-Powered Lifting Chair That One Caregiver Assembles Around a Person on the Floor
The Liftup Raizer II is a mobile lifting chair for raising a person who is on the floor and cannot get up on their own. Instead of lifting the person by hand, a single caregiver slides the low seat under them, attaches two backrests and four legs, fastens the lap belt and presses the button. In 20 to 30 seconds of motor time, the chair raises the person to a seated or nearly standing position. This kit includes the headrest, which supports the person’s head during the lift so the caregiver has both hands free.
The chair supports up to 330 lbs (150 kg), including anything the person is wearing, and weighs 31.1 lbs in total, split into a 20.3 lb seat and motor unit and 10.8 lbs of legs and backrests. It packs into two carry bags for transport to where it’s needed. A 12V LiFePO4 battery provides about 40 lifts per charge at maximum load, or about 80 at an average load. Hold-to-run controls, an overload cutout and a red stop button are built in, and the IP52-rated polycarbonate, ABS and aluminum construction wipes down for disinfection. The Raizer II is made by Liftup and distributed in the U.S. by Span America.

Equipment Specialist Insight: Before using the Raizer II, check the person for injury, and call for medical help instead of lifting if there is any sign they may be hurt. The chair is for raising a person from the floor, not for moving them: never push it or roll it while someone is seated on it. Practice assembling it around a willing helper before you need it in a real situation, so the steps are familiar. Keep the battery charged (charge for at least 6 hours before first use and at least every 6 months in storage), and keep up with the annual inspection the control panel reminds you of.
