A Versatile, Lightweight Bath and Shower Chair
The Otter™ Bathing System is a durable plastic-frame bath and shower chair built around a five-position angle-adjustable seat and back (0°, 22.5°, 45°, 67.5°, and 90°), letting positioning be fine-tuned for comfort and support during bathing. Seat and back Uni-Bars allow one-handed angle adjustments, and changes can be made with the user already seated in the chair — no need to remove and reposition between adjustments.
Height- and width-adjustable head cushions provide support and comfort and can also serve as lateral supports, while removable positioning straps can be placed anywhere along the frame for added security. Leg straps help control abduction and adduction, and adjustable, slip-resistant legs raise the chair up to 7" for use over a tub or with a compatible stand. The frame folds flat for easy, compact storage between uses.

Equipment Specialist Insight: The ability to adjust the seat and back angle with the user already seated is a genuinely practical safety feature — it means positioning can be fine-tuned mid-bath without a transfer, reducing both effort and risk during what's often a physically demanding routine. Sizing across the four models tracks with both height and weight capacity (60 to 250 lbs), so match the size to the individual's current measurements rather than anticipated future growth, since an oversized chair can compromise the positioning support the straps and cushions are designed to provide. The optional tub or shower stand is worth considering separately if the chair will be used specifically in a shower rather than a tub.

Q: How do I choose the right size?
A: Match the size to the individual's current height and weight rather than anticipated growth. A physical or occupational therapist can help confirm the right size and positioning setup, since critical measurements like back height, hip width, and thigh depth all factor into proper fit.
Q: Can the angle be adjusted while someone is seated in the chair?
A: Yes — the Uni-Bar system allows one-handed angle adjustments with the user already seated, so positioning can be fine-tuned mid-bath without a transfer.
Q: Does it work in a shower, not just a tub?
A: The chair itself is designed for tub use with height-adjustable legs; an optional tub or shower stand is available separately to adapt it for shower use.
