A Non-Powered Air and Foam Mattress With Metered Immersion and No Setup
The Span America PressureGuard Custom Care is a 7-inch non-powered mattress that combines air and foam. Inside a zoned outer shell, interconnected head-to-foot air chambers make up Span America’s Metered Immersion air system: as the user moves or repositions, the chambers react together, deflecting, transferring air and venting in response to the user’s weight and position. There is no pump, no power cord, no setup and no refilling. On top, a segmented Geo-Matt surface of more than 800 individually articulating cells follows the body’s contours and helps heat and moisture move away from the surface.
The bi-directional stretch cover is made from LifeSpan fabric, which stands up to bleach and other strong disinfectants, and silicone-coated Shear Transfer Zone bands on its underside help the user settle back into position after the head of the bed is raised. Safety Edge bolsters along the sides give a steadier edge for sitting and transfers. The mattress weighs about 23 lbs and is rated to 500 lbs. It comes in 36 and 42-inch widths in 75 to 84-inch lengths, a recessed-deck version with V-shaped edges, a compressible section and two fabric handles, and versions made for Hill-Rom CareAssist beds.
