The Rhythm Healthcare SoftCaire DX Bariatric is Rhythm’s deluxe powered air mattress system, combining alternating pressure with low air loss in a wider, deeper bariatric mattress. The mattress is 80 inches long, 42 inches wide and 10 inches deep, built from 20 alternating air cells in a cell-on-cell design, with laser-drilled holes in the durable nylon/TPU cells for low air loss. It is rated for users up to 660 lbs and is classed as a Group 2 support surface (HCPCS E0277).
A digital pump with 12 liters per minute of air output runs the system. Its auto-sensing technology adjusts the air pressure to the user’s weight within a 20 to 65 mmHg range, and the cycle time can be set to 10, 15, 20 or 25 minutes. Seat-inflate, static and max-firm modes are built into the pump alongside alternating therapy. The head zone uses three static air cells for a steady pillow area, a heel function lets a single cell be deflated, and a CPR function deflates the mattress quickly with one hand. A quilted nylon/PU zippered cover with a 2-way stretch, water-resistant, vapor-permeable top sits over the cells, and a quick connector with a cap keeps the mattress inflated when it is disconnected from the pump.
