The Span America Equalizer is a non-powered wheelchair seat cushion built in layers, each with a different job. A firm, contoured foam foundation supports the legs and pelvis and helps hold a stable sitting posture. Above it, a softer insert sits under the sitting bones, three gel-like soft polymer zones lie under the thighs, hips and tailbone, and a viscoelastic memory foam top layer conforms to the user. Together, the layers are designed to spread seating pressure across the cushion rather than concentrating it at the three main sitting points.
Every size is 3.5 inches thick and weighs about 4 lbs, with no pump or air to manage. The moisture-resistant cover has a two-way stretch top fabric, a rugged nylon bottom and a front carry handle, plus a sewn sleeve that accepts Span America’s optional Sling-Fill base (2SFB, sold separately) for added stability on a fabric sling seat. Four standard sizes support up to 250 lbs, and two bariatric sizes, 22 and 24 inches wide, support up to 500 lbs.
