A Powered Low-Air-Loss Mattress With Alternating Pressure, Float or Lateral Rotation
The Span America PressureGuard Easy Air LR is the lateral-rotation version of the Easy Air: a complete powered system made up of a 7-inch mattress, a control unit and a coverlet. Air flows through the mattress for low-air-loss microclimate management, and caregivers pair it with one of three modes: alternating pressure, in which four head-to-foot air cylinders cycle on a 15-minute pattern; float, for an even powered surface; or lateral rotation, which turns the surface gently from side to side. A comfort dial sets firmness, and an Auto Firm mode firms the surface for care and transfers. The system supports up to 500 lbs in float and alternating modes and up to 350 lbs in rotation mode.
The air system sits beneath a Geo-Matt foam top of more than 800 individually responsive cells, with a tapered heel slope at the foot end, and Safety Edge bolsters are designed to resist collapsing at the sides during transfers. The mattress holds its inflation during a power outage. The coverlet is fluid-proof, vapor-permeable, bacteriostatic and launderable, with an Air Diffusion Matrix to spread airflow. The control unit mounts at the foot of the bed. The mattress weighs about 22 lbs and comes in ten sizes from 35 to 53 inches wide, including a version for recessed-deck bed frames. Each system ships with the mattress, control unit and coverlet.

Measure the bed deck and choose the width and length that fill it; if the bed has a recessed deck, where the mattress sits down inside the frame, choose the recessed-deck version. Plug the control unit directly into a wall outlet and keep the air lines clear of the bed’s moving parts. Use Auto Firm for transfers and repositioning.
