The Span America PressureGuard Easy Air XL is the bariatric version of the Easy Air: a complete powered mattress system made up of a 7-inch mattress, a control unit and a coverlet, for users weighing 350 to 1,000 lbs. Four air cylinders run the length of the mattress under the body, inside a foam shell, and the control unit runs them in either flotation or alternating pressure. Above the air cylinders is a Geo-Matt foam layer of more than 800 individual cells with a tapered heel slope at the foot end, and solid dual-layer foam Safety Edge bolsters run along the sides.
The control unit pairs a high-capacity blower with a low-capacity air pump and runs quietly on standard 120 V power. The mattress is designed to hold its air if the power goes out or the unit stops. The coverlet is waterproof, washable, flame-retardant and vapor-permeable, with an air diffusion matrix to help manage moisture. The mattress weighs about 32 lbs and comes in 42, 48 and 53-inch widths in 80 and 84-inch lengths. Every component is covered by a 2-year warranty. The 8310 control unit is also available on its own, as a spare or replacement for an existing Easy Air XL mattress.
